Sharpen Your Navigational Skills and Excel in Rallying
We are excited to announce that we will be holding a dedicated school for both navigators and drivers to learn, refine, and enhance their navigational rally skills. This initiative will comprehensively cover all classes of navigation: Pro, Semi Pro, Pro-Am, and Pro-Sport. Whether you are aiming for top-level competition or simply want to participate with confidence, this school is designed for you.

About the Navigator and Driver School
The school is open to all navigational rally enthusiasts, whether you are a beginner or an experienced competitor looking to improve your performance. The sessions will be practical, interactive, and tailored to ensure that every participant gains the confidence in the skills needed to navigate successfully during rally events. Coverage includes all navigation classes: Pro, Semi Pro, Pro-Am, and Pro-Sport.
What Will Be Taught
Participants will be taken through a variety of items, including but not limited to:

Introduction to the principles of navigational rallying:
The roles of navigators and drivers, and the importance of teamwork. -
Reading and Interpreting navigational Instructions:
Guidance on how to read and understand the various rally instructions, including route charts, tulip diagrams, Herringbones, map references and road cards. -
Types of navigational Instructions:
Explanation of common instruction formats such as set navigation, map plotting, timed stages, and additional notes. -
Practical Exercises:
Hands-on activities to practice route following, plotting on maps, and interpreting tulip diagrams and other navigation aids. -
Time Management:
Techniques for accurate timekeeping and managing control point schedules during events. -
Equipment Familiarisation:
Overview of essential navigation tools such as trip meters, roamers, GPS use (where permitted) and more. -
Problem Solving:
Strategies for dealing with tricky navigation situations, lost routes, and on-the-spot decision-making.
How to Read Rally Instructions
A key focus of the school will be teaching participants how to interpret and follow rally instructions confidently. We will cover:

How to decode tulip diagrams (simple directional graphics used for route navigation).

The meaning of common notations and abbreviations found in rally instructions.

Practical ways for transferring written instructions onto maps. (Pro, Semi-Pro & Pro-Am)

Common pitfalls and how to avoid misinterpretation.

Working with your driver/navigator as a team to maintain accuracy and pace.
